Digital Genius Lab(DGL) claimed itself to be a platform that provides education, tools, and support to help affiliate marketers to succeed.
It seems like DGL provides some decent tools for beginners to learn about online marketing/affiliate marketing.
But the main strategy that's taught in DGL is how to promote their membership by using Facebook ad.
There are basically 2 main training in the program and let's take a look at what's in the training.
Training 1: 5 Basic Training Modules
Module 1: Facebook Fan Page
You learn how to create and manage a Facebook Fan page in this module. It is good for beginners and having a Facebook page is important to getting free traffics from social media.
Module 2: Setting Up DGL Sales Funnel
In this module, you will learn how to create a sales funnel so that you can convert your traffic into sales. You learn the following technique to set up a sale funnel.
- Getting a domain name for your website
- Create a sale funnel
- Set up Email campaigns and do email marketing
Module 3: Facebook Ads
You will learn how to use Facebook Ads to drive traffic to your sales funnel and make sales. In the training, they will teach how to set up things like Facebook Business Manage and Ad account.
You will also learn to do Custom Audience Targeting and Facebook Pixels & Re-targeting. These methods are effective at getting quick traffic but it will cost a lot of money.
Module 4: Marketing & Advertising
This module will teach the technical details in advertising and below is some main topic that you will learn.

Module 5: Analyze Campaign Performance
The final module talks about how to interpret the data you get from the ads campaign and what should you do with those data. The key to making money is to identify the winning formula from your test result by using ads.
You should analyze which ads campaign brings you the highest return of investment. Then scale the winning campaign up to make more money.
Training 2: Fast Track Triple Pack ($297)
This training is a upsell in DGL because you need to pay an extra $297 aside from the monthly membership fee. Let's see what you will get for $297.
It contains 3 modules in the training and each module is a program that trains you by doing the hands-on assignment that's assigned to you in the program.
1. 30 Day Fast Track
This first module is a 4-week program in which you will be assigned with 2 coaches. They will guide you step by step to set up your very first Facebook Ad Campaign and then optimize it.
After you completed this module, you will be rewarded a Graduation T-shirt from DGL. Next, you can move on to the next module 90 Day Accelerator.
2. 90 Day Accelerator
This module is a 13-week program in which you will receive a video every day for the entire 90 days. These videos are created to teach you how to make your very first sale.
It is usually the hardest to make your first sale but once you break through the hurdle, you can duplicate the formula and repeat the same procedure to make more sales.
After you've completed this module, you will receive a set of sweatpants which match with the T-shirt you get for completing the 30-day fast track program.
3. DGL Mastermind League
You will get into a team of 5-8 persons and compete with other teams in terms of sale for 90 days. This allows you to learn with other member and brainstorm to create a new marketing strategy.
The winning group will get a DGL Mastermind League Hoodie which let you complete the entire DGL outfit, from t-shirt, sweatpants to hoodie sweatshirt.
The Digital Genius Lab Sale Funnel
Many people who have heard of DGL most likely watched their webinar as well. The first 15 minutes of the webinar is all about how the founder of DGL, Sean Malone went from rag to riches.
It claimed that their strategy will work for anyone even for those who have zero prior knowledge. DGL is going to you how to build an online business and be your own boss.
Sean talked about the challenges that he met as an online marketer and how he was struggling because he didn't have a mentor. The webinar kept stress about the importance of having a mentor to guide you on affiliate marketing.
I felt like the webinar is too sale-focused and it doesn't really tell you how the program outstands the others and how the audience can benefit from it.
How To Make Money With Digital Genius Lab?
1. Promote DGL membership
You earn 30% commission by selling DGL membership. If your friend signs up by using your affiliate link, you will receive 30% of the affiliate commission which is around $30 per month.
DGL claimed that the only you need to do is to drive traffic to their sales funnel and they will do the rest to convert those traffic into sales.
They will follow up with your referrals and help them get started. They will also make sales pitch from time to time to sell the membership and upsell.
This way of making money is very similar to those scam programs(MOBE, Digital Altitude) who got shut down by the FTC in the past.
They ask their member to drive more traffic and recruit more people into the system which is unacceptable by the government and eventually, those programs got shut down permanently.
2. Promote water filter system from Enagic
Enagic is a Multi-Level Marketing(MLM) company that sells water filter which cost anywhere between $400 to $9600.
You can make by selling those water filter and receive a commission from your downline since it is an MLM business. In other words, you can recruit people to join Enagic and you receive a percentage of what they earn in Enagic.
Digital Genius Lab's Secrets Exposed!
1. Pyramid Scheme?
For those who don't know what is a pyramid scheme, it is a model where a company makes money by only recruiting more people into buying their membership and without selling any products.
No, it is not a pyramid scheme because it does sell the affiliate marketing training but so does MOBE and Digital Altitude. They all sell their online training but still, the FTC shut them down.
Why?
Because all their training are geared towards helping their members to promote themselves and recruit more people.
DGL teaches their member to do Facebook advertising to get more people to sign up to their membership. This is very similar to what MOBE was doing back then and anyone should be careful about getting involved with them.
2. Hidden Upsells
There are many upsells in the program where they don't tell you upfront. If you didn't read this review, you won't know about the Fast Track Triple Pack which costs $297.
The fact they are hiding something from the customer just makes them look bad because a legit company will let you know everything about their program upfront.
3. Very High Risk
In DGL, you only get to learn how to sell the membership by using Facebook ads which will for sure cost a lot of money.
Especially now there are more online Gurus who teach people to dropship by using Facebook ad. Facebook ad become more expensive now as they have a higher demand.
Imagine they are teaching so many students the same strategy, everyone will be placing the same campaign and targeting the same audience on Facebook. The success rate is way too low with so many competitions.
You might end up losing a lot of money in Facebook ad. I have seen too many people lost tens of thousands of their hard earn money in buying Facebook and not getting any return of investment.
4. Don't Get To Learn Much
Aside from Facebook Ad, you really didn't learn anything from DGL because they have their support to do everything for you. As they promoted, all you have to do is to drive traffic to their funnels.
In order to succeed in affiliate marketing, you not only need to learn how to drive traffic but converting those traffic into sales is also a very important skill.
5. Too Expensive Membership
DGL is really about their Facebook Ad course, anything else is either hype or stories they made up to lure people in.
You should think about is a Facebook Ad course worth $99 per month? I can probably learn the same thing on YouTube for free.
For $49 per month, I can learn how to get Free traffic by doing SEO, how to make money by blogging, and many more by joining Wealthy Affiliate.
6. Water Filter MLM
You might argue that you can also make money by joining the water filter MLM business. Let me tell you it is extremely hard to earn money in MLM because it is created for people who already in a very high rank.
Also, you will need to hit a sale volume every month, otherwise you lose the rank and can't get commission from your sales. That is why people use their own money to buy the MLM product and stock them.
Because they need to hit the volume target and maintain their status to not lose money.
7. It's Hard to Sell
Because you are selling a program that provides very little value. Imagine you are the buyer, would you spend $99 per month just to learn Facebook Ads in 5 modules?
Also, even you manage to sell DGL membership to someone, there's hustle of dealing with their complaints. Because you will most likely get a lot of complaints about the upsell.
What do I Like About Digital Genius Lab?
There's nothing I like about DGL because, for $99 per month, you only make 30% commission per sale.

Who is Digital Genius Lab For?
I would not recommend DGL to anyone because I found a better option which has a lower risk and a higher winning percentage.
The main reason is that DGL uses Facebook Ads to drive traffic while WA uses free, organic traffic from Google, Yahoo and Bing.
I basically don't carry any risk in WA because I don't spend money to advertise, Google advertises it for me for $0.
Is Digital Genius Lab A Scam?
It depends on how you see it, I wouldn't say it is a scam. But I don't see any value in it because the only thing that's worth learning is their Facebook advertising training. But as I mentioned, you can certainly learn about the Facebook ad on YouTube for free.
There are too many alternatives to make money online. You don't have to spend $99 per month, it is way too expensive in my opinion. Not to mention, you will need to spend more money to advertise on Facebook.
